Transforming lives through education, clean energy, and green entrepreneurship across Africa.

Ngece Rinjeu Foundation (also referred to as Ngece Foundation) is a registered Non-Government, non-profit family-sponsored foundation with an aim of empowering youth and women through education, agriculture and green-entrepreneurship. NRF was founded in the year 2001, as an education and climate mitigation focused group that supported needy children in Kenya. It was formally registered as Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) under the section 10 of the NGO Coordination Act, laws of the Republic of Kenya, in 2013; 12 years after formation.

Ngece Foundation Promotes adoption of Clean Energy in households and cultivation of Oil crops for Energy and Nutrition by Women and Youth in Kenya for economic, social and environment gains. We work to empower women and youth to achieve economic benefits from nature as they contribute to environment and climate change mitigation and adaptation.

Introducing Ngece Rinjeu Foundation

Ngece Rinjeu Foundation (NRF) is a registered non-governmental, non-profit, family-founded organization committed to empowering women, youth, and children through education, clean energy, and sustainable entrepreneurship.

Founded in 2001 and officially registered as an NGO in 2013, the foundation was established in memory of Dr. Ngece Rinjeu, a visionary traditional doctor who believed that no child should drop out of school due to poverty, hunger, or disease.

Our Programs

At the Ngece Rinjeu Foundation, our work is driven by practical, community-centered programs that empower women, youth, and children to build better lives while protecting the environment.

Ngece Rinjeu Rescue & Empowerment Centre

A safe space offering refuge, care, and empowerment for abandoned and vulnerable children in Tharaka Nithi and Meru Counties. The Centre also serves as an Innovation and Skills Hub, equipping youth with vocational and entrepreneurial skills to build better futures.

Ngece Rinjeu Scholarship Fund

Education is at the heart of our mission. Through this fund, we support bright but financially challenged students to access quality education at both primary and tertiary levels. Our scholarships give hope and opportunity to children who would otherwise drop out due to poverty.

Women & Youth Enterprise Program

This program empowers women and youth through microfinance, table banking, and small enterprise support. By applying the merry-go-round savings model, participants access small loans and grants to start clean energy and agribusiness ventures — improving household incomes, education, and health outcomes.

Clean Energy for Education & Health Program

We promote clean, renewable energy technologies such as solar lanterns, biogas, and energy-efficient cookstoves. Through school- and community-based projects, we enhance access to lighting, clean cooking, and water purification — while reducing deforestation and carbon emissions.

Success Stories & Testimonials: Real Impact, Real Lives Changed

Empowered Women, Thriving Communities

Through our Women and Youth Enterprise Program, hundreds of women have gained financial freedom by starting small businesses. Their success has created ripple effects — better education for their children and stronger, more stable families.

Lighting the Path to Learning

Thousands of schoolchildren now study under solar-powered light instead of kerosene lamps. With better lighting, school performance has improved, and communities have embraced renewable energy as a way of life.

From Struggle to Success

Through the Ngece Rinjeu Scholarship Fund, students who once faced dropping out of school are now graduates making a difference in their communities — teachers, innovators, and changemakers.
